Grove family beginnings in England and early shared ancestors

Although members of the Grove family are known to have lived, worked and owned land in Penn in Buckinghamshire since 1332 (see the Manorial Records), this tree records the Groves from Edmund Grove, born 1664. Given that the Grove family lived on the same land from 1332 the blood line is likely to continue backwards from 1664, but to establish births, deaths and marriages prior to this date would necessitate much further research into church and other early records, coupled with the translation of mediaeval English. This tree covers the period from 1664 to the end of the 19th century, and the information about the people included has been researched and authenticated. The tree indicates how the American, Australian and the present English lines come to be descended from these shared ancestors. Of course it is appreciated that the introduction of other families through marriage has added to the strength of the Grove line over the centuries.

Other family trees

Other trees have been created, showing how the family has developed and flourished in England, America and Australia through the 20th and into the 21st Century. For security reasons, these trees are not being published on the website, but the data will be made available to bona fide family members on request.

The people and facts in these trees are based on what was known at the time of compilation. There was such a wealth of material to deal with from the past that fresh input was not actively sought prior to the 10 year Grove reunion in Oklahoma in October 2003. However now that this deadline has been met, all the trees will be updated from time to time when new information comes to hand.
